Tomorrow is International Women’s Day, and this year’s theme is 'Break the Bias'.

"Imagine a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. Together we can forge women's equality. Collectively we can all #BreakTheBias."

To continue the series we recently started, sharing practical ideas on how to positively drive change we wanted to share what we do to #BreakTheBias at Think & Grow. Before we do this, I think it is important to share the outcomes in our team. At Think & Grow, our team is a:

  • 50:50 split in gender and more excitingly a 50:50 salary split
  • The Senior Team, directly supporting our Founders, also has a perfect 50% gender split
  • 13 different nationalities, across 7 different locations, originating from 12 different industries

Yes we are proud of the diversity in our team. This didn’t happen by accident and comes from consistent effort, with a particular focus on how we attract and recruit Talent. Soft / Transferrable (or as I prefer to say, Essential) skills are key to creating an inclusive & equitable environment.

We have found that candidates and employers often don’t realise that the skills they have for one job can be easily transferred to another and demonstrating success can be done in many ways.

Every person who joins our business, and every person we put forward to a client, participates in the same competency based exercise. We look to understand strengths, areas of expertise and what motivates a person. We also share the same thing about ourselves. By evaluating each other on skill sets instead of work history, it helped us level the playing field and find the best talent.

This International Women’s Day, we have shared some stories from the amazing women in our team and continue to pledge to consistently take action to #BreakTheBias.
